Shortened so the hem falls exactly where you want it.

Taken up to a length that works for work, church or a night out.
- 05
Coat and jacket sleeves
Sleeves shortened so your hands are not lost inside them.
- 06
Matching a length
Bring a piece that already fits right and Nayna can match it.
Not on the list? Ask anyway. If Nayna cannot do it, she will say so.

Local know-how
Why you should wash it before you hem it
Plenty of clothes shrink a little the first few times they are washed and dried. Cotton pants and jeans are common examples. If you hem a new pair before it shrinks, it can end up too short.
Care labels are there to help with this. The Federal Trade Commission's Care Labeling Rule requires clothing makers to give care instructions and to warn about care methods that could harm the garment. Reading the label tells you how the piece should be washed and dried.
Here in North Texas, a lot of people toss clothes in a hot dryer to beat the humidity, and heat is often what causes shrinking. Follow the care label for the first few washes before a hem so the length stays right.
Stretch fabrics can shift too. Pants with a little spandex may relax after a few wears, which can change how the hem breaks over your shoe. If the pants are brand new, wear them around the house for a day or two before the fitting. That gives Nayna a truer picture of where the hem should land.
If a garment is dry clean only or brand new with tags, just tell Nayna. She will factor that in when she pins the length.

"Hemming slacks, dresses and coat sleeves is some of the most common work I do. Bring it by and we will get the length just right."
I'm a wife, a mother of two and a grandmother of four. I've always loved crafting and sewing, and I've spent years doing alterations both professionally and from home.
I'm retired now, but I still sew right here from my home in Denison. When I'm not at the machine I'm with my family, loving on animals of every kind, or daydreaming about the beach.

Questions
Hemming questions
Still wondering about something? Ask when you send your ticket, or call (903) 815-6603.
Do I need a fitting for a hem?
A quick fitting is the best way to get the length right. If you have a piece that is already the perfect length, bring it and Nayna can match it.
Should I wash my new pants before getting them hemmed?
If they are cotton or a cotton blend, it is a good idea. Wash and dry them the way the care label says a time or two first, so the hem does not end up short after shrinking.
What shoes should I bring?
Bring the shoes you plan to wear most with the garment. A hem for flats and a hem for heels or boots are different lengths.
Can you hem coat sleeves?
Yes. Nayna hems coat and jacket sleeves as well as slacks, dresses and skirts.
Do you serve Sherman?
Yes. Nayna works from her home in Denison and helps customers from Sherman, Pottsboro, Howe and across Grayson County.
