What Nayna can do

Local know-how
Why zippers fail where they do
Zippers have a few small parts that take most of the wear. The slider moves up and down the teeth. The stops at the top and bottom keep the slider from coming off. On a jacket, a separating box at the bottom lets the two sides come apart.
Zipper makers test these parts on purpose. ASTM International publishes a standard, D2061, with strength tests for zippers, including how well the stops hold and how well the slider resists being pulled, twisted and crushed. Those are the spots that fail most often in everyday use.
When a zipper splits open behind the slider, the slider is often worn and no longer pinches the teeth together. When the slider comes off the end, a stop has usually failed. Either way, replacing the whole zipper is usually the most reliable fix.
The zipper type matters as well. Metal zippers are common on jeans and heavy jackets. Coil zippers made of nylon are common on dresses and lighter jackets because they are flexible. Nayna matches the new zipper to the garment, so it looks right and holds up to the way you wear it every day.
Nayna looks at the zipper and the fabric around it first. Then she lets you know what she recommends.

Questions
Zipper Replacement questions
Still wondering about something? Ask when you send your ticket, or call (903) 815-6603.
Can you replace a jacket zipper?
Yes. Nayna replaces zippers in jackets and coats, as well as pants and dresses.
My zipper keeps splitting open. Can it be fixed?
Often the slider is worn out. Depending on the zipper, a new slider may help, but a full replacement is usually the longer lasting fix. Nayna will take a look and tell you.
Is it worth replacing a zipper instead of buying new?
If you love the piece and the fabric is in good shape, a new zipper is usually a simple way to keep wearing it.
Do I need to bring my own zipper?
You do not have to. Reach out first and Nayna will let you know what she needs for your garment.
